Level
The
Competition is open to pianists of any nationality, age 35 and under
as of October 12, 2009.
The
deadline to enter the competition is August 1, 2009 (see
application requirements). Applications received after deadline
date will not be accepted.
Students
of 2009 Competition judges are not eligible to compete.
Twenty-five
participants and three alternates will be selected based on the
CD recording.
Travel
expenses to and from Alexandria are the responsibility of the contestants.
Housing, practice facilities, and some meals will be provided for
competitors only.
Family
members/friends accompanying contestants are responsible for their
own accommodation.
Upon
arrival, contestants will immediately register with the competition
committee at the designated location.
All
contestants will be required to attend the opening ceremony on Monday,
October 12, 2009, where they will draw for the order of performance
for all stages of the Competition.
All
the music must be performed from memory (see
repertoire requirements).
Eight
contestants will be selected for the Semifinal Round.
Contestants
who are eliminated are not obligated to stay for the remainder of
the Competition, but are invited to do so. Semi-Finalists are expected
to participate in the closing ceremony of the Competition.
Eliminated
contestants will be invited to participate in free masterclasses
with the jury members on Friday, October 16, 2009.
Three
finalists will be selected to perform with the Rapides
Symphony Orchestra in the Final Round.
Prizes
and Awards will be announced and presented immediately following
the Final round with the Rapides Symphony Orchestra at the closing
ceremony of the competition on October 17, 2009.
All
prizes listed will be awarded.
The
Jury's decisions are final and not subject to review.
All
prizewinners will be responsible to appear in all concert engagements
arranged by the Competition Organizing Committee.
All
LIPC performances and events will be open to the public; competitive
sessions may be conducted with a live audience. In the event of
radio and/or television recording during these sessions, LIPC competitors
shall not be eligible for compensation on this basis.
The
Louisiana International Piano Competition shall be the sole owner
and copyright holder of any audio and/or video recording of activities
or events sponsored by the competition.

first-prize winner of the Junior Competition will perform at the

winners will be invited to come up on stage to receive their awards
at the closing ceremony in Coughlin-Saunders
Performing Arts Center.
Selected
contestants will be invited to participate in master classes on
October 18, 2009.
